Naturopathic medicine is a distinct health care profession that emphasizes disease prevention, treatment of the underlying cause instead of suppressing symptoms, and the promotion of optimal health. It is based on harmonizing the healing power of nature with empirical methods while supporting and stimulating the body’s powerful ability to heal itself.

Naturopathic Doctor Training

Naturopathic Doctors have a degree in pre-medical sciences prior to entering a four year doctorate degree from one of the seven accredited Naturopathic Medical Colleges in North America. Training includes basic, medical, and clinical science; diagnostics; naturopathic principles and therapeutics; and extensive clinical experience under the supervision of qualified naturopathic doctors.

Graduates receive the title “ND” or Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine. Upon completion of their education, they are required to write rigorous board exams in order to practice as a licensed Naturopathic Physician.
